SUCCESS!
"Good enough for first-timer" the man grunts back "Gonna add in the price of filling yer tanks as well since it's gonna do me no good at all if you get my stuff an' your ship croaks before it can get outta the system". "In advance?" you push, wondering what kind of answer you'll get - but the man just laughs and replies "Nice try! But no, not till you touch down here again an' my cargo's bein' offloaded"
Hmm...not great, but still at least he's giving me free fuel. Need that real bad as the tanks almost ran dry getting Arcus an' I this far - so not havin' to pay for fuel will make him a bit happier...

"Fair enough. I'll head right out now." Torin smiles, "Thanks for the job." Before going he turns and says, "I was planning on getting a...uh-rr....alternate ID for my ship sometime soon. If it would be something within your ability to do, I would take that instead of part of my pay when I rr-return . IF that happens to be something you can do, I'm kind of partial to giving her the name Forlorn Hope."
He listens to anything his new boss has to say, finds out what he needs to do to get that free fuel fill-up (a voucher, a name to drop, etc.) and then he heads back toward the port.
After getting outside into the street, he turns on his comm and says, "Arcus, get the ship ready to go-rr. We're fueling up and heading to someplace called Riaanond to pick up a woman named..um....", He looks again at the piece of paper...

"...well, never mind the name, she's easy enough to rr-recognise" you finish. "Are we getting more food?" Arcus asks pointedly "Stocks are not high now, even with food cubes - so even self-heating ration cans would be a help". You think about that. Space between planets out here takes quite a time to travel - more food would be nice, even if it's not that varied - so I might just talk to whoever's going to give us the fuel and see what they have. Passing that onto Arcus, you grin a little when he says "It'll do. If we get free food and fuel out of this, the money'll go a good deal further" and discomms.
You make your way slowly back towards your ship, looking around and trying to figure out what some of the strange smells here are. Most, you decide, are probably from ships in various states of disrepair - whatever my own ship looks like, it works well and does not smell like that.
There's a woman in tech's coveralls standing beside your ship when you arrive. "Got a call to fuel ya up" she says when you come closer - Arcus sticks his head out and says "Good, you're back! Did you bring the food as well?" "Got a shortage of eatin' stuff too?" the woman replies, moving back just a little at the sight of Arcus "Well, we'll see what we got after your ship's dealt with".

Torin doesn't mind the bit of friendliness coming from this woman...even if it may be due more to orders from her higher ups than any actual friendliness on her part.
He hands Arcus the paper before the Sheyang disappears back into the ship and says, "Try and see if you can get a course plotted to this planet while we're waiting."
Torin makes a bit of small talk with the woman while she fuels the ship, but tries not to talk about anything too important. Best not to give out too much information or be too nosy about others' affairs when in a business deal such as this. He's glad to know that they'll end up with a bit more food than they had onboard. He had completely forgotten about their shortage.
When she's done fueling, he offers to give her a hand getting the food--hoping it's not food cubes, protein packets or other such survival sustenance. "It may be too much to hope for real meat, but something with more flavor than rotted wood might be nice," he thinks to himself.

"Coupla frigates come through for resupply" she tells you, heading over to a collection of crates at the side of a nearby warehouse "Dropped a whole load of grade 3 ration cans here - enough to feed ten thousand for monen! Take as many as you want, we need the space. Got some dried meat as well - I sen Vorcarians before, I know you like meat fresh, but it's what we got right now". "At least there's meat" you reply "It'll do" before calling for Arcus to come out and help load.
He grumbles and growls a bit, but he comes out with a trolley and helps load ration cans and sealed packets of dried meat. You make four trips and load thirty packs of ration cans before the woman reamrks "Better make that one the last one, you people don' go through that much that quick". You suppress a growl at how she said 'you people', but nod and slam the drop ramp up and seal it shut just in case someone tries to get extra payment out of you...

Torin closes the ramp, ties down the last of the food crates in the galley's supply hold, then heads to the ship's c*ckpit.
The name on the ship's manifest is The Distance. An odd name, Torin thinks. Not a terrible ship, and not in bad shape. Well built and sturdy. But there's not much exciting to say about her...she's just a slow, boring transport ship.
The c*ckpit is a fairly small space, certainly not large enough to be called a "bridge" or "command deck". There are three seats, two facing the viewscreen where a pilot and co-pilot would sit. Behind and toward the starboard (I can't recall the Farscape names for left/right on a ship.) is an engineering monitor station. There is also plenty of floor space between the seats and the doorway at the back where a ship's captain might stand to command the ship. That is, if the ship's captain didn't also have to function as one of the crewmen.
Torin takes a seat at the port-side console. Arcus already occupies the starboard, since he has to also keep an eye on the monitor station nearby.
"All secure, Arcus," he says, "The ship ready to go?"
"Sure is, kid," the Sheyang replies.
Torin hits a switch in front of him, "Por-rr-t authority, this is The Distance on landing pad E15 rr-requesting clearance to depart."
OOC: Just kind of wondering...why Torin did suppress a growl in the instance above? Is there something that Vorcarian's would take offense at about being referred to as a "people"? Just wondering, because that seemed a little out of character for him to do...she actually was pretty friendly to him and from what I could see didn't warrant a near-growl. Or did I miss something?
And why does this board censor the word c*ckpit?

GM replies... : Torin suppressed a growl because of the way that man said 'people' - sorta like minor species discrimination or racism. Zeldin is Sebacean-controlled and while other species may go through there not everyone may be familiar with them or like them that much.
In this game, hammond = right/starboard; treblin = left/port.
As for the censoring...I've tried turning off a lot of it but it doesn't always hold
"Clear when ready" the port controller replies - good, at least there are no PK warrants out for me, Arcus, or this ship here. At least not under our real names, anyway.
Your hands reach out for various controls and you feed in the thrust farily gently before boosting for orbit. Zeldin may have had many of the comforts of places generally called civilised but there is little real life there.
Such monitoring satellites seem to be centred over what look to be scientific bases fo some kind -while there are some over the port, there are not many and none are scanning your ship. You're glad of that - though you also wonder why...
