"Yes she did." Lirak agrees softly, his voice soothing and quiet, keeping Amara in her sleepy state. He is so good with her, I see, and I know that when our son is born, I would like Lirak to be a big part of his life.
Lirak gets Amara to tell him which clothe scome off first, and which limbs to put in the sleeping clothes. Amara giggles and does just that, thinking she is teaching that to Lirak.
"I think you are all ready for a sleep now, yes?" he decides after afew more momens. Amara nods and hugs him " 'Mara all re-dee for slee-pee ty-me, un-cle Li-rak!" "I shall see you in a few arns, then. Goodnight Amara." "Nite-nite un-cle Li-rak." she yawns, beaming when he kisses her cheek.
"Thank you." he whispers to Trannak and I once Amara is lain down. "Thank you." I reply, kissing him softly on the cheek. Lirak smiles with both sadness and happiness and heads out.
Trannak and I watch Amara for a short while, until her snores drift out around the room. I smile at Trannak and draw him close for a long, soft kiss. "You have been smiling like that all day." Trannak notes.
I nod. "Wanting to be alone with you...and..." I kiss him again, taking his hand and resting it on my belly "And... not being completely alone with you." My smile widens. "We are both alone with you."
Trannak looks at where his hand is...then up at your face... and then asks "You are...?" with a look of total amazement on his face. "I am" you confirm "At least Nrakal's first line of tests say so. He wants to see me every weeken to check on me, but he is confident I am indeed pregnant". "Havre you seen our child yet on scan?" Trannak asks, his voice wobbling just a bit as he says 'child' "Is it a boy or a girl?" "Not yet" you tell him "I think Nrakal would think our new one is too tiny to be scanned yet. Maybe when we get back from Riaanond we might be lucky there... but that is up to Dr Nrakal".

Trannak smiles before adding "We should perhaps wait until Nrakal's next test confirms the pregnancy before we start..", then he draws you closer before finishing with "...in case the child is hurt by our enthusiasm". "I understand..." you reply "I would rather we did not have to wasit... but I agree that is necessary. For now". "For now" Trannak confirms.
His presence and love and the knowledge your child is growing away inside you sends you to a deep sleep. Trannak watches you for a while, smiling when he sees your own happy smile before nodding off himself.
The PTR...close by the bridge, on the oppostie side from the main doors...
Several children are here. You recognise Amara, of course, and Harek and young Anton and Troll's three girls - and then the view closes and you see Feltano, your own son, sitting up beside Trannak and playing the clapping game with the other boys. The girls play as well, and every few momens Urana calls for a change and one child from each group goes to the other one so they all get to play with each other.
Feltano is bright and happy and eager, you note as you watch him play - he watches how all the others play and makes sure he goes fast enough to keep up with them. All these children have the stage 2 change except Amara - and she uses her power to boost her speed to comparable levels anyway - and all go far faster than any normal child would, but they also have a lot of fun and get on with each other better than groups of mixed-species children usually wqould and, for that matter, better than many groups of children of any age of the same species as well.
"Heeheehee!" Feltano giggles when the game stops for a while "That lots of fun, papa! What we do now?" "Time to go swimming, dear son" Trannak tells him - he claps and says "I not good as sis-ta 'Mara yet, papa..." and Trannak rumbles and tells him "You will become as good in time, little man... she is older than you and has had more time to practice, that's all". "Swi-ming fun, papa" he replies, nodding "Swi-ming un-da best fun". "Those with special bits like us swim under best of all" Trannak tells him, grinning - Feltano claps again and says "We swim un-da now, papa?" "We will" Trabnnak says, leading your son to the river.
"That good, mama" Amara tells you "Fel-tano bro-ther like swi-ming as much as me. We go an' swim with him so he be extra ha-ppy" - you take her hand wand wlak with her to the river, where you all swim as a family...
You awaken to Trannak gently rocking you back and forth and the computer alarm sounding...

With that, we head back up to the bridge, andI find myself looking forward to returning to my new home.

Amara decides to climb onto Serila's lap at the navigation console when you reach the bridge - Serila smiles just a little and tightens her webbing over the two of them. "Sensors power threshold indictaes the Havoc has detected us" Serila announces, followed by Amara's squeak of "Yellow stuff, mama - there yellow stuff from big home ship! 'Mara see it!"
Serila marks the Havoc's location on your HUD and Rulok's and displays a suggested course as well - it is straight and simple and quick, so you follow the marker but fly the ship yourself instead of letting the computer do it. "Identify yourself"Lazarus' voice insists, though you hear little Anton in the background as well - Rulok nods and you ask Serila to respond. "Cry Havoc..." she replies "this is ESV Phobos requesting landing clearance. Lieutenant Rulok, IFC Caseya, Captain Trannak, and ISC Serila present on the bridge at this time". "Copy that" Lazarus replies, and little Anton pokes his head in front of the camera, insisting he be allowed to see and be seen as well.
"Hello, little man..." you tell him quietly, and both he and Amara clap and giggle "You are happy and well?" "Both he and Koronna are happy and healthy" Lazarus tells you happily "Our son's been walkin' around a bit more an' for a bit longer each time as well". "He walk on feets now?" Amara asks with interest and excitement "We see when we get bak, blak hat cap-tin? We see?" "You can if he wants tto show you, yes" Lazarus replies with a laugh "See you all on the flight deck. Havoc out" before discomming.
Amara giggles and claps and tells you all who she is going to tell about the trip to Riaanond as you fly the Switchblade aboard the Havoc's flight deck...
The pair of you take off in formation and leave the Havoc's flight deck. You watch Sturk's flying in a ship he's comparatively new with - he is less at ease than you, but skilled enough and will learn quickly, you decide.
"Look, mama..." Amara calls, pointing "There Stu-rrrk ship! It look just like yours!" "It is the same kind of ship as mine, Amara" you tell her with a grin "But look under the wings, love - Sturk has had new things put there instead of what I have on this ship".

"They have a lot of things that can fly out and find something and then go bang" Trannak tells her "Several different kinds of things like that, in fact - because your friend Sturk likes that kind of thing, doesn;t he?" "He like it lots, dada" Amara agrees, and you're relieved that Amara isn't asking more questions along those lines. Tranbnak is good at defusing tensions, you decide, which you think is a skill he learned from watching his father.
"Follow us past the Havoc's bridge window, Sturk" Trannak calls over to the other KAT-25 "Whoever's on duty can take a picture of the pair of us flying by in formation - that's the first time it has happened off our Kalish friends' homeworld with this class of craft"

"We have nice flite down to pla-nit now, noo bru-tha or sis-ta" Amara tells her unborn sibling "Flying all fun, you know. Mama not go all twis-tee so you have good slee-pees an' stay ha-pee", while you bank your ship over and head down towards atmosphere.
Amara claps when she sees the skies of Tal IV in front of her, calling "We nee-lt there, we nee-ly there!" as the outer parts of your ship start to glow on re-entry...
I look over at where Amara is already snoring softly under Trannak's jacket. He smiles and strokes her hair as she sleeps, getting mutters and rumbles as she feels him and knows she is safe.
I gigglea little at the sight of Amara under his jacket as he soothes her and I wonder if that is what I will look like when my baby grows much larger inside me.
I tell that to Trannak, that he looks pregnant, and he laughs and says "Maybe that is why I am eating so much." I laugh too and make the break into orbit, opening the throttle to take us home.
Talannah's voice comes on the comm almost immediately the moment you make orbit, and you can hear Harek's excited burbles and calls close to her as well. "Deck doors are coming open, Caseya" Talannah tells you "Feeling well? did you havea giood time with your family?" You tell Talannah about the family eating time and she rumbles softly, which gets another happy gurgle from Harek before you see his face poke up just inside vision range of the camera. You grin at him, and he claps and makes quite rapid excited calls and gurgles to Talannah - he clearly knows you and is pleased to see you even on a screen, you note with delight.
"Good, Caseya" Talannah says once she quietens Harek down a bit "Family times together are good to have and be happy at" before adding "Doctor Nrakal has been asking after you - mostly question after question about your health and how your new baby is doing, as you might expect". "I will see him after I get back" you reply with a grin "He knows I have an appointment to see him and that I will not forget". Harek looks up at the screen again and points and makes quite a bit of noise, which gets Talannah to assure him "We will go to the flight deck and wait for them to land, my son! You can see them all then!" before discomming.

You just giggle a bit when you've made the transition to space and look around for the Havoc's unmistakeable huge bulk - and barely a few microts after you find it, you see the other ships from the other major powers as well.
The similarly unmistakeable shape of the mark-2 pattern Vorlek isn;t far from the Havoc, along with two Reaver frigates. That will be Captain Vorlek's ship, you remember from the comm calls. The Luxan ship is now uncloaked and you look at that with some interest - it is so unlike anything else you have seen, smooth lines and odd protuberances, and you wonder if Amara has seern it or has asked its captain about it. You can't see the Nebari ship, but decide Harrigan will have ordered it to stay some distance away.

"Make sure Sturk gets to medlab." I reply. "He hit that thing rather hard and broke a few knuckles. We strapped his hand, but doctor Nrakal might like to observe the healing."
"He'll be here when you landanyway, Caseya - your guest has caused him a great deal of excitement." We both share a laugh at that, and I discomm asI see the deck doors opening on the Havoc.
"Nearly home." I say happily, grinning at Trannak. "I admit to looking forward to getting some sleep." Trannak chuckles and nods. "Me too. With the mission and our winding down, I think sleep sounds wonderful."
I nod and rub my stomach gently, relieved to feel a queasy spell, because that means he is still alright inside.
